Club History:
1999 - 2008

Burwell Tigers Football Club was formed in May 1999 to provide the children of the community of Burwell and surrounding villages with the opportunity to learn and enjoy playing football. Tigers was originally formed only for children of the Ages Under 8 and Under 9 (as defined by the Cambridgeshire Mini League), but due to the huge success of the club it now runs teams at various age levels from Under 8 upwards.
Tigers play on Saturdays & Sundays in the Cambridgeshire Mini League and Colts League and are extremely fortunate to have one of the best grounds in the league. There is a beautiful playing surface at Margaret Field Pitch and the Burwell Cricket Club pavilion provides excellent facilities with changing rooms and a refreshments lounge, ideal for warming the supporters of Tigers and their opponents in the middle of the winter! Teams playing in Colts League now play matches at Swaffham Bulbeck and train at Burwell Sports Centre.
Burwell Tigers Football Club continues to grow, encourging children to join and enjoy competetive football. The club strives to provide excellent standards of training at every age level. Members are invited to contact their coaches with problems and questions and an AGM allows club members to put forward their views and opinions and vote on key issues.
In 2002 we took 3 teams to compete in the Amsterdam Cup in Holland and in 2003 the older teams competed in a tournament in Belgium. In 2004 the Under 12's competed in England, Great Yarmouth, and won the tournaments Fair Play Award. In 2005 we competed in Holland again with an Under 13's team.
In the 2007/2008 season Tigers ran 1 Under 8 team, 1 Under 9 team, 1 Under 10 team, 1 Under 11, 1 Under 12 team, 1 Under 13 team and 1 Under 16 team. We also have an Under 7 team in development with a few friendlies to be arranged later in the season.
