Another physical match that Burwell were unlucky to lose 4-0, conceding a goal at the very end of each half. Sasha Patchett and Kayleigh Arnold worked as an excellent defensive unit with Sasha pushing forward when she could. Captain Brooke Davy playing central midfield encouraged the team the whole match and tracked backwards and forwards as necessary. She recovered from an ankle injury on the stroke of half time to put in a girl of the match performance.

We were disappointed by this result, thinking we had turned a corner but Hormead were too good for us showing a remarkable improvement from the last match with us. Once again Burwell didn’t give up, and Lily Turner, Millie Fuller, Alice Verney and Jessie Hinchley made a number of impressive forward runs. Kayleigh Arnold was especially persistent cutting out a number of attacks, deservedly winning girl of the match.

A great result in our final match of the season against Cambridge City. Burwell worked well as a unit, and we should have scored several times on the break. Jessie Hinchley was particularly unlucky. Alice Verney once again showed great ball holding skills up front and took a well worked goal. The girls chose Lily Turner as their girl of the match for her uniting work in left midfield.

The match was played in a very strong wind, blowing right across the pitch, making it extremely difficult to link together any passes. Alice Verney, Millie Fuller and Lily Turner all went agonisingly close to scoring, and it was bitterly disappointing to concede a goal in the last two minutes when we should have won by four or five. Girl of the match Sasha Patchett was outstanding at left back, cutting off Isleham’s attackers and passing the ball an amazingly long way!

The support from the parents was exceptional in this match and they picked the girl of the match. We played the girls longer in each position between substitutions so they really had a chance to work together. We were very unlucky not to score more than girl of the match Millie Fuller’s goal.

Unfortunately this game wasn’t such a close score (!), but we were without our two goal keepers. Brooke Davy and Lily Turner stepped into the breach and did their very best. What was remarkable was that the girls didn’t give up and kept playing to the very end. Girl of the match Sam Matthews played out of her skin as right back, reading the game well and passing successfully to midfield.

The cup game against Histon seemed to mark a real turning point as all of the girls showed great skill and determination. We played the girls in some of the positions they shone in during the previous match and it really worked. Unfortunately Chloe Lavery-Smith had to go off with a wrist injury in the first five minutes, so Hollie Adams stepped in with great authority during the rest of the match, winning girl of the match.

Burwell was 0-7 down at half time, so we decided to ‘have some fun’ and play the girls in positions they hadn’t played in before in the second half. It worked! Alice Verney was a revelation up front, and Kayleigh Arnold, Charlotte Holmes and Ashleigh Cornwell shone in midfield. Lily Turner won girl of the match for hard work for the team.

It was 0-4 at half time so the second half was the first time we had kept a team from scoring – an important step forward. Hollie Adams played very well in goal, but girl of the match Abbie Hartley showed some outstanding dribbling and passing skills and control.

Burwell struggled to make a full team so Hormead kindly agreed to play 6 a side. Our inability to sub really told in the second half. Lily Turner scored another great solo goal. Charlotte Holmes never gave up and showed great team sprit becoming girl of the match.

Histon played a very hard but fair game, and showed superior fitness and control. Millie Fuller made several impressive bursts from centre midfield, and was unlucky not to score. Charlotte Hyland won girl of the match for reading the game well, moving intelligently and being quick to cut off potential attacks.

The team struggled against a very physical Chatteris side, but didn’t give up. Hollie Adams was outstanding in goal and gave encouragement at every opportunity. Girl of the match Alice Verney in her first match showed constant effort and strength in defence. Lily Turner scored a wonderful solo goal, breaking away and leaving the Chatteris defenders standing.

The first match of the season and the first match for many of our team. We learned a lot about ourselves, and the second half performance was much better than the first. Abbie Hartley and Charlotte Holmes did well in midfield, but Kayleigh Arnold at left back showed determination, patience and skill and deservedly won girl of the match.

The Pink Ladies picked up all three points in a hard fought match.
The home side started slowly and it took a fine save by Tiff Toynton to keep the scores level. Spurred on by their skipper Beth Woodfield they gradually took control and Becca Fay opened the scoring after good work from Charlotte Andrews and Emma Lovick.
Early in the second half Rowdies hit back to equalise. This seemed to wake the Ladies up and Sarah O'Rourke soon restored their lead. The game was end to end but Becca Fay clinched victory late on with a well taken goal.

In blustery conditions The Pink Ladies put in a very determined performance to come away from Huntingdon with all three points.
The visitors dominated the first half but were unable to make the break through until just before the break when Charlotte Andrews released Sarah O Rourke who coolly chipped the on coming keeper to open the scoring.
The second half saw Rowdies force the Pink Ladies to defend and that they did with great performances from Christy Sherwood, Beth Woodifeld and Hannah White. When they did find their way through they found Tiff Toynton in fine form in goal. With ten minutes remaining the visitors broke and scored the vital second goal when Yaz Ryles scored with an unstoppable shot.
This seemed to break the spirit of the home side and O'Rourke rattled the bar before Charlotte Andrew put Emma Lovick through to score the third with a super finish.

With the two teams evenly matched chances were a rarity in the opening stages. With Sarah Bentley having a great game in the home midfield The Pink Ladies were gradually getting the upper hand.
Charlotte Andrews and Emma Lovick combined to free Yas Ryles who fired home from long range to put the home side ahead. Just before the interval they extended their lead when Becca Fay found Sarah O' Rourke who slotted home number 2.
The second half saw the visitors push the home side back and they soon reduced the arrears. Good defending from Bet Woodfield and Hannah White kept the home side ahead until in the very last minute Hormead scored a deserved equaliser.

This local derby started at a fast pace with Bottisham forcing their hosts on to the back foot.
Bethany Woodfield was in fine form in the Tigers defence thwarting numerous attacks.
Against the run of play Charlotte Andrews played a defence splitting pass into the path of Sarah O'Rourke who rounded the keeper to slot home. This ignited the home side and they increased their lead just before the break when Becca Fay`s cross was volleyed home by Charlotte Andrews.
The second half saw Yas Ryles take control of the midfield and her pass found Sarah O'Rourke to score the third. The Bottisham keeper was forced to make some fine saves before O'Rourke completed her hat trick after good work from Ciara O'Brien and Hannah White.
Tiff Toynton made a fine save in the home goal before Christy Sherwood set up Srah O'Rourke to complete the scoring with her fourth goal.

The Tigers travelled to Milton with a makeshift side and had stand in keeper Charlotte Andrews to thank early on for keeping them level with some fine saves.
The visitors took the lead when Yas Ryles fired home from twenty yards. Becca Fay then released Sarah O'Rourke to score a second with a neat finish. O' Rourke then scored her second after good work from Emma Lovick. Milton pulled a goal back straight away and right on the half time whistle they scored a second.
This seemed to deflate the visitors and they could not match the work rate of the home side and conceded three second half goals.

The visitors started brightly and their good passing football was rewarded when Emma Lovick found Becca Fay to fire home. The lead was soon doubled when Becca Fay released Sarah O Rourke to score the second. Willingham came more into the game and but for some good defending from Beth Woodfield and a fine save by Tiff Toynton they may have reduced the deficit.
Just before half time Sarah O Rourke made it three nil after fine work from Yas Ryles.
The second half saw Willingham fight back and pulled two goals back to shock the Ladies into action. A fine run and cross from Charlotte Andrews was fired home by O'Rourke to secure the victory a great all round team performance deserved.

With an earlier then usual kick off the home side made their customary slow start! It took an inspirational performance in midfield from Emma Lovick to get her team going.
The opening goal was made by Lovick winning the ball and then slotting a fine pass to Sarah O Rourke to open the scoring. Slowly the Tigers took control and Charlotte Andrews then release O Rourke to fire in number 2. Yas Ryles and Christy Sherwood combined just before half time to allow Becca Fay to score number 3.
Walden attacked from the kick off in the second half and but for good defending from Beth Woodfield and Hannah White they may have reduced the arrears. Andrews and Lovick once again exchanged passes to set up Sarah O 'Rourke to complete her hat trick. A long clearance from Tiff Toynton then put O Rourke through to complete the scoring with her fourth.

W 3 - 2 |
The home side took the game to the visitors straight from the kick off and only some super saves by the Willingham keeper kept the scores level. Mid way through the half the visitors broke to take the lead against the run of play. Burwell went in search of the equaliser and were again caught on the break leaving them 2 goals down at the interval.
The second half continued much like the first with the home side attacking but could find no way past the visiting keeper until a Becca Fay corner was met by Charlotte Andrews who headed into the back of the net. The equaliser soon followed when another Becca Fay corner caused confusion in the home defence and Emma Lovick fired home.
The home side would not settle for a point and they continued to press forward and were rewarded when Hannah White released Sarah O'Rourke who slotted home the winner that their great all around team performance deserved. |
