SOHAM UNITED U10A |
W 1 - 6 |
On a very hot May morning the Tigers travelled to Soham for their last fixture of the season. They had beaten them earlier in the year with a huge 14-0 win so they were confident that they could do well against them again.
Both teams started well with the play going from one end of the pitch to the other but the Tigers soon settled into their stride with some great passing that lead to several very good attempts at goal from Jack De Laune, Joseph Lancaster, Will Hasleham Matt Lavery-Smith and Sam Bellis. Feeling that they now had the measure of them the Tigers began to push the game further and further into Soham’s half where it was only a matter of time before Tigers scored their first goal from a great shot by Jack De Laune. This was closely followed by another goal from Ben Ewers to make the score at half time 2-0 to Tigers.
With the temperature rising rapidly both teams returned to kick off the second half. Soham knew that they could still pull back the deficit and win but they would have to beat a confident Tigers team that were not going to give an inch let alone two goals. Once again Tigers took control and very quickly started to produce some great shots. Sam Bellis came very close with a header from a corner and soon after a shot from close range but it was Matt Lavery-Smith who made it 3-0 from a cross into the box to give Tigers further control. Will Hasleham then scored from a long range free kick which curved perfectly into the top right corner to take Burwell into a commanding 4-0 lead. Soham were down but not out and eventually with great fighting spirit they scored their first goal of the game. It was too little too late, however, as Tigers responded with two more from Matt Lavery-Smith and Ben Ewers to make the final score 6-1. Both teams worked hard in spite of the soaring temperatures to produce a great game of football.
Congratulations go to all the Tigers and their coaches, Shane Lebbon and Del Goodchild for producing some fantastic football today and over the whole season.

NEWMARKET TOWN U10B |
W 3 - 0 |
Having played Newmarket Town B earlier in the season and battled to beat them the Tigers were keen to play the return match. The conditions were good and the game was at home so their hopes were high for another win.
As they kicked off Newmarket immediately took control with some very strong play. They passed the ball confidently and looked very dangerous in the Tigers half. Within a few minutes Tigers had conceded a corner and were only saved from being 1-0 down by Charlie Hall who cleared the ball off the line from a Newmarket header. The Tigers, although slightly shaken by the strength of the opposition battled hard to get back into the game. The addition of Jack De Laune, who was substituted half way through the first period, broke the pattern of play and slowly but surely began to turn the game around. With their confidence lifted the Tigers began to fight back. From defence through to the forwards Newmarket’s dominance was taken apart leaving their game floundering. The Tigers were back in control! Shots from Jack De Laune and a header from Will Hasleham came close but the goal by Ben Ewers put Tigers firmly back in the driving seat. This was closely followed by a second from Ben who dived on a mistake by the Newmarket goalkeeper to make the score at half time 2-0 to Tigers.
A rousing team talk from coach, Shane Lebbon left no doubt as to what the Tigers had to achieve in the second half and as the game started it was obvious that there was going to be little let up in their fighting spirit. Again Newmarket were left defending as the Tigers powered their way through their midfield attacking the goal from every angle. A fantastic run by Jack De Laune who carved his way down the right wing past five Newmarket players resulted in a cross into the box which was slotted home by Cameron Izzard to make the score at full time 3-0 to Tigers.
After the match Tigers coach, Shane Lebbon said that whole team had played very well and the result had reflected this. The passing throughout the game had produced some good goals but most of all it was a great team effort. |

LITTLEPORT TOWN U10A |
W 0 - 4 |
On a cold and blustery April morning the Tigers travelled to Littleport for their second game against them this season. Tigers have gone from strength to strength this year producing some great wins against some very good competition and having beaten Littleport on many occasions they were not going to give anything but their best to maintain the fantastic results they’ve achieved so far.
The Tigers began superbly and opened up a 1-0 lead inside 5 minutes with Jack De-Laune scoring before Littleport had even settled into the game. With the pressure gauge set to high the Tigers forced Littleport into playing a defensive game with the ball barely leaving their half. It would be only a matter of time before they blasted home another goal but despite all their best efforts Littleport held firm. Some great shots from Ben Ewers came close with one hitting the post and a corner from Will Hasleham found the boot of Byron King who’s shot deflected off the cross bar. Despite the lack of goals, Tigers produced some fantastic football, controlling the game skilfully from defence through to the forwards making sure that when they had possession every attempt was made to score. As the half time whistle blew the score was still 1-0 but Tigers knew that a win was within their grasp if they could maintain the pressure against them.
Littleport were not disheartened by the Tigers domination of the first half and came out for the second looking stronger and ready to do battle. Tigers were also ready and were not going to let go of their lead easily. Ben Ewers shot in the opening minutes made the score 2-0 and Will Hasleham added another from a shot outside of the box to make the score 3-0. With Littleport well and truly beaten Ben scored his second to made the final score 4-0 at full time.
Another great performance from all the Tigers and a result they should be proud of. At no point during the game did they let the pressure off Littleport and the result, despite there not being many goals, reflected their efforts. Well done the whole team. |

COTTENHAM UNITED U10 |
W 7 - 2 |
A good start by both teams with real end to end play from the start. Ben Ewers opened the scoring for Burwell with a shot across goal into the top corner. Some great pressure from Burwell led to a lovely through ball from Jack De Laune to Ewers who slotted away the 2nd. De Laune tested the keeper moments later but was denied by a great save allowing Cottenham to break, a sure goal only being prevented by Oliver Goodchild who made a fantastic save. Goodchild’s goal kick far down the pitch found Ewers who crossed the ball for De Laune to slot away to make it 3-0. De Laune had another good effort saved which led to another Cottenham break with Mile Evans taking the ball the length of the pitch, to be denied once again by a Goodchild save.
Will Hasleham picked up the ball in the Burwell half and threaded it through to De Laune who passed to Ewers who put the ball in the roof of the net for his hat trick making the score 4-0. Burwell had much of the possession up to half time with the Cottenham keeper being kept busy making some great saves, Sam Bellis came close with a shot just wide of the post. Cottenham’s Jack Dean scored a great volley from a perfect cross to make it 4-1.
Another great through ball from Hasleham to Ewers opened up the Cottenham defence, Ewers crossed the ball low to Cameron Izzard who finished beautifully to make it 5-1, followed by a well placed cross by Ewers into De Laune who had time to place the ball in the net to make it 6-1. A period of great pressure from Cottenham forcing Burwell to defend tirelessly, Hasleham needing to make crucial tackles on the edge of the Tigers area.
Shortly after the restart Burwell were given a free kick taken well by Bellis, but Cottenham had lots of players in front of the goal to prevent him scoring. A mistake from the Tigers defence gave Cottenham’s Evans chance to run the length of the pitch & slot the ball in the bottom corner to make it 6-2. A shot from De Laune hit both posts only to come out and fall to Evans who again ran the ball the length of the pitch but his shot going wide. Ewers replied with a pitch length run of his own, his shot being saved by the Cottenham keeper.
Izzard had a shot saved off the line and Hasleham took a long range shot hitting the Cottenham post. Cottenham had another period of pressure, Louis Hall needing to make a great defensive tackle to prevent a Cottenham break. Some great passing from both teams with lovely football being played showing great teamwork. Hall had a 1 on 1 with the Cottenham keeper who was on fine form saving brilliantly, but Burwell kept up the pressure and after a goalmouth scramble the ball fell to Hall who stroked it in to make the final score 7-2 to Burwell. |

WITCHFORD COLTS U10B |
W 8 - 1 |
After a two week break the Tigers were eager to get another good result in a season that they had totally dominated from the beginning. They had convincingly beaten Witchford 8-1 late last year and wanted to get another good result against them.
The Tigers began superbly and opened up a 1-0 lead inside 5 minutes with Jack De-Laune scoring before Witchford had even settled into the game. The Witchford goalie could not do much about the simply unstoppable Tigers as shot after shot pounded through their defence. The visitors were in danger of getting torn apart at every attack as some perfect passing from the whole team secured three goals for Ben Ewers within a matter of minutes. The Tigers were now in an unbeatable position. But it didn’t stop there! Two unfortunate own goals from Witchford were closely followed by goals from Billy Thompson and Jack De-Laune to made it 8-0 as the half time whistle blew.
Witchford were not disheartened by the goal deficit and came out for the second half looking stronger and ready to do battle. Tigers were also ready but were not expecting such a fight from what they thought were a defeated side. The game from that point levelled out with attacks at either end of the pitch causing problems for both goalkeepers. Eventually, with great persistence, Witchford scored their first and only goal of the game. Unfortunately, their fight back was too late and the final whistle blew to give the Tigers another convincing 8-1 win. |

BURWELL SWALLOWS U10 |
W 1 - 6 |
As soon as the whistle blew Tigers went on the attack to try to set the tone for this local derby, but in doing so left their defence open and Swallows took advantage with Colby Williams giving them the lead. Both teams were playing in each others half but with no real conviction until Tigers Byron King past the ball to Jack deLaune who's shot got caught up in the Swallows defence and ended up in the back of their net to level the score.
Swallows had plenty of the ball and kept the Burwell defenders busy with a few near misses but when Tigers got the chance they were quick to break and their second goal came when Tigers de Laune's shot got deflected into the Swallows net to give Tigers a 2-1 lead. Tigers made a few substitutions which allowed them to play more of their passing game. The next goal came from a build up of great passes with defender Will Hasleham passing to Byron King who found Ben Ewers in plenty of space who in turn found de Laune who made it 1-3. Swallows went on the attack but in doing so their defence got caught when Hasleham found Ewers who nipped it in passed the goalie 1-4. Swallows kept going and could have had a goal back just before the break with a near miss from Jack Carter.
In the first 10 mins of the second half the game went quiet until a pass by Tigers Sam Bellis to Will Hasleham placed the ball in the right corner 1-5. Swallows continued to attack but couldn't break the Tigers defence with the final goal of the match coming from Tigers Cameron Izzard to make it 1-6. Swallows could have got a goal in the last few mintues of the game but for a great save by the Tigers keeper Oliver Goodchild. The final score was 1-6 to Tigers and Swallows who worked so hard on the pitch will be disappointed with the result and some missed chances. |

BOTTISHAM U10 |
W 5 - 0 |
Playing at home always makes the Tigers feel more confident and today was no exception. It was a perfect morning for a game. The ground conditions were good, the air was fresh and the sun was shining. Tigers had the full team of players and were ready to give another thrilling performance. Having beaten Bottisham 6-1 earlier in the season Tigers had good reason to feel confident but it had not been an easy game and this time they knew they would be ready for them.
Both teams started well with the play going from one end of the pitch to the other, but it was Bottisham that would get the first strike at goal, skilfully saved by Oliver Goodchild, the Tigers goalkeeper. Burwell responded well with several shots at goal from Jack De Laune, Will Hasleham and Ben Ewers but none were able to break the deadlock. Slowly but surely Tigers started to take control of the play, passing the ball confidently and producing some fantastic football to watch. Finally they were rewarded for their hard work with goals from Billy Thompson, Byron King and Sam Bellis to make the score 3-0 at half time.
As the teams returned to start the second half Bottisham knew they had all the work to do but before they had even settled into their stride Tigers had taken control again. Some brilliant passing from defence through to centre forward meant that Bottisham could do nothing to stem the flow of shots at them and it was only going to be a matter of time before Tigers would find the back of the net. Jack De Laune scored from a great pass by Ben Ewers and then Will Hasleham took the ball from his own half all the way up the wing and scored to make it 5-0 at full time.
After the match Tigers coach, Shane Lebbon said that whole team had given 100% and the result had reflected this. The passing throughout the game had produced some fantastic goals but most of all it was a great team effort. |

LITTLEPORT U10 |
W 5 - 0 |
On a very cold Saturday morning the Tigers prepared to play Littleport U10’s, a team that they had convincingly beaten in the last season. Despite the previous week’s defeat at the hands of Waterbeach they needed to be focused and to give a performance that would prove they were still worthy of being top of the league.
As the ball left the centre spot Tigers could see that the opposition were a strong side. Within a few minutes Littleport had managed to take control of the game and came close to scoring. Undaunted by the pressure, Tigers responded with some fantastic defending from Lewis Hall and Will Hasleham who made sure that nothing Littleport did troubled Tigers goalkeeper Oliver Goodchild. Feeling that they now had the measure of Littleport the Tigers began to push the game back into the Littleport half creating several scoring opportunities and finally a great goal from Billy Thompson to make the score 1-0 to Tigers at half time.
Starting the second half as they finished the first the Tigers piled on the pressure with shots from Will Hasleham, Jack De Laune, Ben Ewers and Byron King. Firmly in the driving seat and playing brilliantly they began to produce some superb goals. Byron King scored two in close succession followed Cameron Izzard from a series of one touch passes and finally Jack De Laune in the dying minutes of the game to make the score 5-0 at full time.
After the match Tigers coach, Shane Lebbon praised the Tigers performance commenting that the passing was fantastic and that the whole team had played brilliantly throughout the game. |

WATERBEACH COLTS U10 |
L 1 - 0 |
Tigers had played Waterbeach two weeks earlier and the result was a 1-1 draw. They all knew that it was going to be a difficult match especially as this time it was away from home. So on a cold and very windy January morning Tigers stepped onto the pitch ready to do battle with the only team in the league that had come close to beating them.
Both teams looked good from the moment the ball left the centre spot. Tigers, battling against the strong wind, started to show what they were made of with several good attempts at goal and one from Jack De Laune that beat the goalie but bounced off the post. The Waterbeach team responded with some great play but at half time the score still remained 0 - 0.
With the wind behind them for the second half the Tigers again started well but today wasn’t going to be their day as Waterbeach powered in their first goal from a close range shot. Nothing now was going to stop them from winning as attack after attack from the Tigers was relentlessly defended and as the final whistle blew the score remained 1-0 to Waterbeach. All the Tigers had played their best but it just was not enough to beat a strong Waterbeach side.
After the match Tigers coach, Shane Lebbon, praised the efforts of the whole team saying that the result had not reflected the commitment of the players. |

STRETHAM SPORTING U10B |
W 9 - 0 |
As the Tigers had played Stretham earlier in the season and beat them 14-0 they felt quietly confident that would be able to repeat the performance without too much trouble. Presuming you are going to win is never the best plan so as coach Shane Lebbon gave his usual pre game talk we all knew that he wasn’t going to take any chances.
As the game got under way both teams started well and it was very clear that Stretham had improved since their last meeting. However, Tigers soon found their form, working well as a team and passing confidently to produce several shots at goal. Despite the pressure Stretham kept Tigers goalie Oliver Goodchild on his toes as they came close to scoring. Unfortunately today was not going to be their day as Byron King broke the deadlock with Tigers first goal. This was closely followed by Will Hasleham hitting the crossbar from a long range shot and then Billy Thomson scoring Tigers second soon after. Byron added a third to make the score 3-0 as the half time whistle blew.
With their heads held high Tigers started the second half as they had finished the first. Jack De Laune scored within a few minutes and followed with his second almost straight after to make the score 5-0. Byron and Jack then added another each to make their hat tricks and Ben Ewers got his first from a long shot that slipped through the goalkeeper’s hands. With the constant Tigers pressure Stretham could do nothing to stem the flow of attacks against them as shot after shot forced them to play a defence game that never left their half.
A final goal was scored by Joseph Lancaster who pounced on a rebound to make the full time result 9-0 to Tigers. |

D 1 - 1 |
After losing to Waterbeach last season the Tigers knew that they had a tough match ahead.
Both Teams looked good from the moment the ball left the centre spot but it was Waterbeach that got the first goal, scoring from a corner. Tigers responded well to being behind with some very strong play and several great attempts at goal from Ben Ewers, Jack De Laune and Byron King but nothing was hitting the target and at half time the score was still 1-0 to Waterbeach.
After a strong team talk from the coach and some rousing Tigers chants the teams resumed for the second half, ready to do battle. And that is exactly what they did with Tigers creating more and more chances but not quite managing to hit the target. A free kick from Ben Ewers came close with Jack De Laune’s shot just going wide but it was all set to change as Will Hasleham stepped up to take another free kick from close to the centre spot. A long curving high ball was headed into the corner of the net by Billy Thompson and the Tigers were back in the game! They played like demons for the remaining time but the winner eluded them and the final score remained at 1-1.
'A great game for all the Tigers' said coach Shane Lebbon. 'They played brilliantly and deserved to win'. |

Playing at home always makes the Tigers feel more confident and today was no exception. It was a perfect morning for a game. The ground conditions were good, the air was fresh but not cold and the Tigers had the full team of players ready to give another thrilling performance. Unfortunately the same could not be said of Soham who only had six players but it was decided that the game would be played regardless.
Despite the one player disadvantage Soham started well but it wasn’t long before the Tigers took control with Cameron Izzard opening the scoring with a run from the half way line. He then added a second from a corner soon after and a third just before half time to make his first hat trick of the season. Although the score was 3-0 at half time there had also been many other good attempts at goal from the Tigers. Billy Thompson, Jack De Laune and Sam Bellis all came close to scoring and at the other end of the pitch defenders Charlie and Lewis Hall made sure that Soham never caused goalkeeper Oliver Goodchild any problems.
With the half time whistle Tigers looked to be in a very comfortable position. Coach Shane Lebbon commented on the “fantastic passing” the team had produced in the first half and made several key substitutions for the second half.
Tigers started where they had left off, controlling the game almost from the first kick and within a few minutes Ben Ewers had scored his first of 3 goals to make it 4-0. This marked the beginning of an avalanche of goals starting with Oliver Goodchild (scored 2), then Joseph Lancaster (scored 2), Will Hasleham, Byron King, Jack De Laune and finally Sam Bellis to make the score at the end of the second half 14-0 to the Tigers.
Despite the score Soham kept battling throughout the whole game and should be proud that they played well. |

NEWMARKET TOWN U10B |
W 1 - 4 |
It had been nearly a month since the Tigers had played a competitive match and two weeks since they had trained together and we were all wondering whether they would be able to keep up their spotless score sheet. Newmarket Town have always been a strong opponent so we knew we were in for a difficult game.
Newmarket kicked off the game starting well with some good passing but they never looked dangerous. Tigers on the other hand looked fantastic. They moved well, passed brilliantly and generally looked very comfortable. The forced break seemed to have done them good because they played some inspired football. But as the half time whistle blew the score was still level at nil - nil despite several very good attempts from the Tigers.
The second half began as the first had finished with the Tigers dominating the play and in the first few minutes they were rewarded with a goal from Joseph Lancaster who smashed it in from close range after Ben Ewers had passed it in from the wing. Newmarket responded quickly with an equaliser and looked as if they had regained their form as they piled on the pressure for most of the second half. However, the Tigers, especially Byron King and Sam Bellis held them at bay maintaining their composure.
With about five minutes left, coach, Shane Lebbon brought on Ben Ewers and Will Hasleham who had been substituted earlier in the half .The combination of determination and renewed energy inspired the Tigers to give it their all and they immediately started scoring, first Byron King, then Billy Thompson and finally Ben Ewers to make the score 4-1 to Tigers.
The Tigers usual Goalkeeper Liam Stearn has stepped down and was replaced by Oliver Goodchild for the first half and Matt Lavery-Smith for the second. Both Keepers played brilliantly. |

COTTENHAM UNITED U10 |

On a cold and blustery November morning the Tigers travelled to Cottenham to play their first game in two weeks. As the season has progressed the team has gone from strength to strength producing some great results against very good competition. However, with only nine players available on the day we knew that if the Cottenham team were good it was going to be a hard game.
Both teams started well with the play going from one end of the pitch to the other, but it was Cottenham that would get the first strike at goal, skilfully saved by Sam Bellis, the Tigers stand-in goalkeeper. Burwell responded well to the pressure producing three corners within a few minutes. As they started to take control of the play, Tigers were rewarded with a great goal from Jack De Laune. This was quickly followed by a second from Matthew Lavery Smith who skilfully tipped the ball over the goalie’s hands as he was diving for a shot from Jack De Laune. The Tigers third goal was from Byron King who dribbled the ball all the way from the half way line past four of the Cottenham players and then the goalie to put the Tigers in an unstoppable lead at the half time whistle.
The second half began as the first had finished with the Tigers piling on the pressure and controlling the play. Cottenham, now forced to play a defensive game quickly lost their stride and with the persistence of the Tigers it was only a matter of time before another goal was scored. Will Hasleham’s shot from outside the area bouncing off the post was closely followed by Ben Ewers goal to make it 4-0. Jack De Laune scored his second to make the final result 5-0. Another great win for the Tigers. Well done everybody. |

WITCHFORD COLTS U10B |
W 1 - 8 |
On a freshly cut Witchford pitch the Tigers, after a two week break, were eager to get another good result from the game. On their last meeting they’d had a decisive win over Witchford but experience had told them never to be over confident even with a team they had beaten. As the game kicked off you could see that the whole team were focused on producing a great game of football.
Both teams began very well but Tigers quickly started to dominate the play with some good passing that lead to several attempts at goal. Most notable were Oliver Goodchild hitting the post and Billy Thompson’s shot being cleared from the goal line at the last moment. It was Witchford that were to open the scoring with a great goal that lifted their spirits and gave their team a renewed strength and confidence. But the lead was short lived as Tigers, sensing that they had lost control, powered back into the game with a headed goal from Sam Bellis that the Wichford goalie didn’t see until it had hit the back of the net. With the score now level, Tigers took control again and were very soon 2-1 up with another goal from Sam. This was closely followed by two more goals from Ben Ewers to make the half time score 4-1 in Tigers favour.
The second half again started well with the play being completely dominated by the Tigers. Jack De Laune was the first to score closely followed by Ben Ewers and Byron King to make the score 7-1. Several close misses kept the Witchford goalkeeper working hard but in the dying moments of the game Jack De Laune added one more to make the final score 8-1 and another resounding victory for the Tigers.
The whole team played a great game to win over a capable and strong Witchford side. Well done everybody. |

BURWELL SWALLOWS U10 |
W 4 - 1 |
With a 100% winning track record against Swallows the Tigers knew that they had everything to play for. All the previous games had been nail bitingly close but with the team’s strong performances so far this season they felt that a victory was within their sights.
With the bacon rolls and coffee flowing on a bright October morning the game kicked off to a very good start with Tigers immediately dominating the play. Within 3 minutes Ben Ewers had scored Tigers first goal and it looked like they were heading for victory. But the celebrations were short lived as Swallows immediately responded with an equaliser which lifted their confidence and their play. The battle was on! With several near misses from both teams the first half was drawing to a close but some extra effort from the Tigers produced another goal with Oliver Goodchild scoring to make it 2-1 at half time.
As the second half started Tigers knew that they had it all still to play for and if they were going to win they would have to do nothing short of their best. And their best is what they gave. From defence through to the forwards all the players worked hard and were rewarded with goals from Ben Ewers and Billy Thompson to push them to a comfortable 4-1 lead. Now confident of a win coach Shane Lebbon moved Will Hasleham from defence to centre forward and Sam Bellis from midfield to the back and within a few minutes they had created several good chances of scoring. As the final whistle blew Tigers had produced another powerful team effort dominating the game at the front and in defence. As well as the goal scorers there were some great performances from Lewis and Charlie Hall, goalkeeper Liam Stearn, Byron King and Jack De Laune.
Well done everybody. |

SAWSTON UNITED U10 |
L 3 - 4 |
Knock out Cup Round 1
Having never played Sawston United before they were a bit of an unknown quantity and with rumours spreading that they were a very good team Tigers knew they were in for a tough match. And what a match it was, from the moment the whistle blew the pace and quality of football from both teams was outstanding and a pleasure to watch. Sawston scored first from a free kick which was closely followed by some good chances from Tigers but an unfortunate own goal gave them a two goal commanding lead which boosted Sawston's morale and performance. But tigers were not giving up and soon pulled one back with Ben Ewers making it 2-1 at half time.
As the game restarted Tigers knew that victory was within their sights. Byron King made it 2-2 but despite all their efforts Sawston scored again and at 3-2 the battle was on to catch up. Burwell responded well and
dominated the second half with some outstanding play from all the team but their effort and hard work didn't stop another Sawston goal. It just wasn't Tigers day. In spite of many good attempts at goal including Ben Ewers' free kick which bounced off the cross bar they just couldn’t get it in the back of the net. A late goal from Ben again brought the score nail bitingly close but the final whistle blew to the relief of an exhausted Sawston side to give them a 4-3 victory and a second round place in the Knock out Cup.
Congratulations to Sawston but a very well done to the Tigers. It was a game they should all be proud of. |

BOTTISHAM U10 |
W 1 - 6 |
On a bright and sunny September
morning the Tigers thought they had a hard game against Bottisham
U10’s, a team that they had fought hard to gain a draw against
in previous seasons. Confident from the decisive win against Stretham,
Tigers started well but were nearly a goal down after a strong
start from Bottisham.
Tigers fought back and with some great passing
from Will Hasleham and Ben Ewers managed to set up Billy Thompson
for the first goal. Within a few minutes Bottisham had equalised
but it was a short lived celebration as Ben Ewers scored the second
and third to make the score 3-1 at half time.
As the game restarted
Tigers knew that victory was now in reach but knew that Bottisham
were still a dangerous side that could easily pull back the two
goal deficit. This was not to be as Ben Ewers skilfully dribbled
his third around two players and then the goalie to make it 4-1.
With the game now firmly in their control Sam Bellis and Jack De
Laune added two more goals from headers to make the final score
6-1.
Another great win for the Tigers against a capable team. Well
done everybody. |

STRETHAM SPORTING U10B |
W 0 - 13 |
The first match of the season is
always going to be tough especially when it's against a Stretham
side that they haven't played before. But there was nothing to
worry about because the Tigers rose to the challenge, dominating
the game from the moment the whistle was blown. Within two minutes
Byron King had scored, closely followed by Ben Ewers and Oliver
Goodchild to make it 3-0. Stretham fought hard but were not able
to stem the flow of goals as Byron got his second, immediately
followed by Billy Thompson scoring two to make it 6-0 at half time.
As the teams returned to start the second half Stretham knew they
had all the work to do but before they had even settled into their
stride Tigers had started scoring again. Joseph Lancaster began with
a long shot from close to the half way line followed by Jack De Laune
who scored two to make it 9-0.
Sam Bellis then added one, followed by Jack De Laune scoring from
a glancing knock that Sam remarked was a fluke but it didn't help
Stretham who were now eleven goals down. Ben Ewers added two more
to make it 13-0 at the final whistle.
Tigers produced a powerful team effort dominating the whole game
at the front and in defence, where on the few occasions that the
ball did come into the Tiger's half, Will Hasleham and Lewis and
Charlie Hall made sure that goalkeeper Liam Stern had a very trouble
free game |
